These are designed to last for around three months of daily use. We also love the soft moleskine cover and elastic strap. This one has been so popular in our household that our eight-year-old tester has claimed it for herself (even though it’s meant to be the five-year-old’s), and is using it nightly. There are inspiring quotes (“And all the colours I am inside have not been invented yet,” Shel Silverstein), and it’s really user-friendly, as kids are encouraged to write about something good that happened to them each day, as well as doodling away on the Fun Pages. We’re particularly impressed with this one though, which uses cute characters to encourage kids to identify their emotional state (the older kids version uses emojis). Now, you can also find a 12+ Junior edition and a larger journal for three-to-six-year-olds, My First HappySelf journal, plus new colourways, like turquoise and dark blue. Since then, HappySelf has launched a couple of new varieties, although the cheery yellow, six-to-12-year-old journal is still available. This revenue helps to fund journalism across The Independent.įull disclosure: we’ve been fans of this mindfulness/gratitude journal for years, having first purchased it for our children soon after it launched in 2017. We may earn commission from some of the retailers, but we never allow this to influence selections, which are formed from real-world testing and expert advice. You can take a break for a few days or even for a week, and then come back with new ideas,” advises Richards. You can use your journal to write very short notes – perhaps just a few words – to sum up how you’re feeling. Wondering how to get started? “Don’t worry about writing the same amount – or even anything at all – every day. Or, it’s something older children might want to spend an hour doing to unwind each evening. The beauty of journals for kids is that there’s no right or wrong way to use them: kids can draw, scribble, circle an emoji to describe how they’re feeling or write pages of thoughts down – it’s an activity that can take as little as five minutes a day. We tested a wide variety of journals with children aged 10, eight and five over several weeks, and are pleased to say that our kids have adopted a daily journal writing practice as a result, something they find enjoyable and calming. There are also memory journals that parents can fill in with their little ones. Some of these journals can be personalised as an extra-special keepsake. Many of them include fun facts, inspiring stories and uplifting mantras, quotes and affirmations. There are travel journals, worry journals and activity-packed creative journals to entice those kids who aren’t keen on writing. The journals of 2021 are nothing like the spiral notebook diaries of yesteryear: now, you’ll find themed journals, focusing on everything from mindfulness and confidence-boosting to outdoor nature adventures. “As an adult, I love looking back at my childhood writing and drawing – it connects me straight back with how I was feeling at the time.” Books to get kids talking about mental health.12 best children’s books with empowering black characters.6 best kids’ clothing rental services for shopping more sustainably.9 best smartwatches for kids that have games, cameras and trackers.10 best Stem toys: Help kids to learn while they play.

The document should first be recorded and the person may then request a certified copy from the office that holds the original recorded document. If a customer asks you to certify/attest a photocopy of a document that is not yet recorded but that will be recorded, you should decline the request. Your customer should request a certified copy from the official custodian of that record, such as the registrar of vital records or the county clerk/recorder. If you are asked to make a copy of a vital record, you must decline. Every jurisdiction, every state and country in the world, keeps these types of records. Vital records are those that document citizens’ “life events” within a particular state or country, such as birth certificates, death certificates, and marriage and divorce records. A public record is any document that is recorded in a county clerk's office or held by some government agency and is open to the public for inspection. The document must not be a public record, or a vital record. If asked to certify/attest a photocopy that has already been made, you must also be presented with the original document for comparison purposes, and your state law must allow the comparison method for this notarial act ( see NOTE above). Make or witness the making of a certified/attested photocopy only when you are presented with a true original document. No state or country would give up the original copy of a vital record. If a person brings in a certified copy of a birth certificate, for example, and tells you that it is the original birth certificate, it is not. You must be presented with the original document for comparison purposes or to make/witness the photocopy. A certified copy issued by the official document custodian (for example, a certified copy of a marriage record, issued by a county clerk) is not an original document - it is a copy. You Must Be Presented With the Document Original To complete the certified/ attested photocopy notarial act, you must observe several conditions and follow certain procedures:ġ. It is therefore wise to positively identify this person. You will also want to record the name of the document custodian in your recordbook entry. While your state statutes or rules may be silent on this matter, the notarial certificate for an attested photocopy generally states the document custodian’s name. Please note that when a notary makes an attested copy of a document, he/she is not guaranteeing the authenticity of the original document, its contents, or its effects. The notary is simply stating that the document photocopy is a "true" and complete copy of the original document that was presented. The notary’s certification is made in a notarial certificate worded expressly for this purpose.ĪSN recommends that you positively identify the person presenting a document for copy attestation as a best practice. ( * NOTE: Only certain states that authorize copy certification/attestation allow the comparison method. They are CA-POAs only, CO, ID, ME, MN, MO, MT, NH, ND, OK, PA, VT, WA, WV, WI, WY.)įor clarity, ASN avoids use of the term "certified" copy except in states whose statutes actually refer to the act in this manner. We more frequently use variations of the term “attest” i.e. Instead, you make or witness the making of a photocopy of a document, or you compare a photocopy* against the original document, and then certify or attest ("affirm to be correct") that the photocopy is a true copy of the original. You do not administer an oath or take an acknowledgment from anyone. The act of copy certification/attestation is completely different from notarial acts involving a signed document. Not all documents are eligible for copy certification/attestation by a notary. The following discussion will help you navigate these sometimes murky waters. Not all states, however, authorize notaries to perform this act. Notaries are frequently asked to make a certified or attested copy of an original document. swashbuckler fantasy series Pirates of the Caribbean, beginning in 2003. Kananga’s Inflated Ego In Live and Let Die Though it might be the stuff of Austin Powers parody by today’s standards, the moment Pleasance’s Blofeld dropped Dor’s character down into a pool of ravenous piranha remains as unsettling now as it did back then. Donald Pleasance excels in the role of the Bond supervillain but remains largely unseen during the terrifying scene in which he dispatches with henchwoman Helga Brandt (Karin Dor) after she fails in her attempts at eliminating 007. The second animal-related entry on this list comes from Connery’s fifth outing as Bond and a film that perhaps best captured the menace of 007’s long-time adversary Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Blofeld Serves Helga Brandt To the Piranhas in You Only Live Twice More than living up to the name Goldfinger, the murder feels like something out of a high-concept serial killer movie. Bond finds her body in an iconic movie moment. Masterson is thus murdered by having her body covered in gold paint and dying from skin suffocation. Her boss does not take kindly to this though. Having discovered Goldfinger using his employee Jill Masterson to cheat during a high-stakes card game, Bond succeeds in derailing the scheme before seducing Masterson. The exploits of his razor sharp-hatted henchman Oddjob (Harold Sakata) may provide plenty of nightmare fuel, but another moment highlights what a dangerous and depraved adversary his boss is. Jill Masterson Paints the Town Dead in Goldfingerġ964’s Goldfinger ranks as arguably the most iconic movie in the storied history of 007, partly down to the menacing specter of Auric Goldfinger (Gert Frobe). It’s a nerve-shredding sequence and one that had fans checking under their duvets for years to come. What follows is every arachnophobic’s worst nightmare with Bond waking to discover the spider crawling up his arm. No (Joseph Wiseman) dispatches a henchman to eliminate Bond using a deadly tarantula. Here are 10 iconic James Bond scares.įearing that 007 knows too much, the film’s titular villain Dr. But even when it doesn’t, the resulting misfires often live long in the memory, in part because of the terrifying and often bizarre scenarios they present. When it works, it can result in some of the most iconic moments in the history of 007. Like Steven Spielberg and Indiana Jones, Bond movies deploy scare tactics to heighten the drama and add a sense of danger to proceedings. However, good Bond movies possess another ingredient often overlooked when discussing the franchise’s enduring appeal: the ability to scare. Bond has been known to take forays into the world of science fiction, either in an attempt to match box office rivals like Star Wars or in an attempt to address the concerns of an ever evolving technological world. Where once Bond might have been defined by the wry humor and slapstick gags of Roger Moore, the more modern 007 of Daniel Craig played it straight. Yet for all the expectations surrounding the world’s most famous secret agent, the recipe isn’t set in stone in fact, it’s forever evolving. There must be action, adventure, romance, and a dash of comedy. Over 25 films, fans have carved out an understanding of what they expect from 007. Bond movies are cinema’s equivalent of a Philippe Petit-level highwire balancing act. There must be few things more daunting to a filmmaker than taking on the mantle of directing a new James Bond movie. Many animation presets don’t contain animation rather, they contain combinations of effects, transform properties, and so on. You can then apply that animation preset to any other layer. The 19th Avenue Platform & Trackway Improvement Project originally included pocket tracks to allow J Church trains to continue past Balboa Park with service to Stonestown. Occasionally J-Church streetcars use the siding at 30th and Church as a terminus during rush hours, or during irregular operations. This extension of the J-line to the Metro Center now also provides vintage F Market cars a connection to the adjacent Cameron Beach Yard, where they are stored when not in service. This trackage was laid along the Bernal Cut, the former right-of-way of the San Francisco & San Jose Railroad. The extension opened on August 31, 1991, but the 2.3-mile (3.7 km) new section was initially used only by light rail cars starting or ending their runs all-day J-line service was not extended along the new tracks until June 19, 1993. In 1990–91, the tracks were extended to the Balboa Park BART station and the Metro Center (Muni light-rail maintenance and operations base), giving J-line cars a much shorter connection to the yard than previously. Studies to extend the line from its southern terminus had been made in the 1920s and 1970's. The outer end of the line was originally at Church and 30th Streets, where streetcars used a wye to turn around. Īn outbound J Church car turns from 30th Street onto San Jose Avenue in 1993, two months after the start of all-day service on the extension south of 30th. While many streetcar lines were converted to bus lines after World War II, the J Church avoided this due to the private right-of-way it uses to climb the steepest grades on Church Street, between 18th Street and 22nd Street. Īs part of the creation of the Muni Metro system, it was partially converted to modern light rail operation in 1981 - the last line to do so. The new Transbay Terminal became the inner terminus for every other streetcar on January 15, 1939, with all service routed there after January 1, 1941. Service was extended along Van Ness Avenue to Pine Street on August 29, 1917 this extension was discontinued on May 31, 1918, with service extended along Market Street to the Ferry Building the next day. Track work on the J Church line was largely completed in 1916, and service from Church and 30th Street station to Market Street and Van Ness Avenue on August 11, 1917. Separate early morning, the J Church Bus is not operated during the COVID-19 pandemic.Īn outbound J Church PCC streetcar running through Dolores Park in February 1980 The bus line largely follows the rail line, but it uses surface streets to parallel sections where the rail line has dedicated rights-of-way. On weekends, the J Church Bus service runs from 5 a.m. Unlike the other Muni Metro lines, there is not a corresponding overnight Owl bus during the hours that rail service is not running. Daytime headways are every 10 minutes, and 12 minutes on weekends. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the J Church begins service at 5 a.m. At the end of the line, the J loops around the Metro yard at San Jose and Geneva, alongside Balboa Park station. Between Randall and Cotter Streets, there is a right-of-way in the middle of San Jose Avenue. The J then follows Church to 30th Street, then to San Jose Avenue and Geneva. After crossing 20th Street, it cuts across the blocks east of Church, around a steep hill and returns to Church Street at 22nd Street in Noe Valley. Between 18th and 20th Street, the line cuts through Dolores Park in a private right-of-way featuring a 9% grade, the steepest section of the Muni Metro system. The line continues south on Church Street to 18th Street. The line runs west through the Market Street subway to a portal on Duboce Avenue, before turning onto Church Street.
